Debut author, Heidi Fedore’s Pigs and Flakes explores how Gabby Tonley escapes haters by doing what any sixteen-year-old would do: leaves the U.S. and goes to work on her uncle’s farm in England. Only one problem: she has zero farming experience. But it can’t be that hard, right?
This contemporary young adult novel is intended for 8th graders and older. Pigs and Flakes highlights the toll of hateful online comments, the healing of sustainable farming, and the sometimes-humorous challenges of adapting to another country’s culture.
